Step 2: Based on your training needs assessment, determine the type of training you need, how many people need the training, and the number of training days.
For each training topic identified in Step 1, what training delivery method is appropriate?
Instructor-led Training delivered by an experienced facilitator that leads adults through the learning process. The training may be delivered onsite at the client location or at an offsite location. Typical workshops occur in half-day, full-day or multi-day formats.
E-learning Self-directed, self-paced training on a particular topic taken through the internet. Provides a cost and time effective way to build skills. Can be used as a stand alone method, or blended with instructor-led workshops to build skills prior to a workshop or to reinforce learning after a workshop.
In-house Trainers Provided by an in-house trainer to facilitate the development process. In this case the organization may elect to purchase training content (facilitator kits and participant workbooks) if the content is not available internally.
Subject Matter Experts The organization may have resources and expertise internally that can help meet the learning needs. This is typically a cost effective method and works well to compliment instructor-led and elearning programs.
Professional Associations Professional Associations can be a source for industry knowledge and access to a strong network of expertise through monthly meetings and annual conferences.
How many people need to attend the training?
How many days of training will you need (assume 10-20 people per training class)?

Step 3: Estimate your training costs.
